California Business For Sale Deals Hit A 5 Year High Says BizBen Index
California business for sale transactions for last month - August hit a five-year high. Transactions are up 32% over the previous August it was reported by the BizBen Index.
The number of transactions completed in the month of August this year reached 1,615 compared to the 1,216 in August 2015. The 1,615 completed transactions in August are the highest total so far for any month since 2011.
"I think what we are seeing with the increase in small business for sale transactions this month compared to last year at this time is a perfect storm of sorts.” said Peter Siegel, MBA, Founder and President of BizBen.com, parent of the BizBen Index.
Siegel added, "Real estate values in California are at levels not seen since before the Great Recession, and because of that people have more equity in their homes, and they are using that equity for down payments. The Stock Market is at an all-time high which means investors have more money to invest with. We are also seeing more access to investment capital as SBA loans for business acquisitions are at an all-time as well for the last two months. Add in the fact that we are in the summer months and a lot of people have extra time on their hands to search for businesses for sale and you end up with a record number of transactions. Here at BizBen.com, we personally have seen a dramatic increase in people signing up for our ‘ProBuy Program’, which is designed to help people acquire the business they want because they are eager to join the party before the summer ends.”
